We won, but, well.... We like to make things interesting don't we?
I lost the toss and they chose to bat. I would have done the same...
What followed in the most part was a very disciplined bowling display.
There were a few misfields, a few dropped catches (3 off my bowling - I'm not taking personally ;-) But overall, we kept things pretty tight and they never got away from us at any stage.
So 99 was the target and it always feels better chasing something under 3 figures.
Kumar got us off to a flyer, 12 off the first over! 2 wickets in the second over evened things up and slowed us down, but Kumar and Saroj, patiently at first, put together a great partnership.
They both retired and we were in the box seat... Runs continued to accumulate a we got into the 90s with 4 overs to go.
It's probably my fault because I remarked the 'We can afford to lose a wicket and get the same bonus points'...
We then proceeded to lose enough wickets such that Kumar who had retired had to come back in again! I wasn't nervous as I new we had the quality to win it, and Ash pulled for 4 to win the game.
We certainly got the opposition very excited and interested though.
Welcome to Watchetts, as the old saying goes! |
